STATEMENT OF PROTEST AGAINST THE INVASION OF UKRAINE BY RUSSIAN ARMY
We, the Japanese Society for the Study of Slavic Languages and Literatures (JSSSLL), as a society of scholars who engage in studies of all Slavic cultures, including those of Russia and Ukraine, have been appalled and deeply saddened by the invasion of Ukraine by the armies of the Russian Federation. As we aim to deepen mutual understanding between people of different countries, nations and cultures, we strongly oppose war, which destroys people’s lives, property and culture. We are calling for an immediate ceasefire, and we support all of those caught up in the conflict.
